“Street Dreams” Biopic Miniseries Based On Nas’ Life Is Coming To BET

Deadline reports that BET has ordered a pilot of a new hour long series based on the life of Nas from Jonathan Levine. The series is titled Street Dreams and will take place in New York City in the 1990s. It will follow the character of Nas as he goes from growing up in Queensbridge projects to selling crack to becoming a famous and successful rapper. The show was originally picked up by XBox Entertainment Studios a while back and was set to be a half-hour long and feature a comedy angle. Levine, who was the creator of Rush and director of The Night Before, wrote and will direct the pilot for the series. Stream Dreams is named after Nas’ 1996 song of the same name. The song was featured on Nas’ second studio album It Was Written. The series will also be executively produced by Nas. BET recently released the successful miniseries The New Edition Story based on the story of R&B group New EditionThe Queens rapper was recently involved in the Netflix series The Get Down for which he acted as executive producer and created music.
