Over the course of months, Meek Mill has received support from everyone that you would expect and even those who you wouldn’t. New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft said he was a “fine young man” after visiting him. Meek has seen visits from everyone from James Harden, to the Philadelphia 76ers owner and team, and a lot more.

NBC Nightly News with Lester Holt ran a piece on his ongoing legal troubles to bring more awareness to the subject and got an exclusive interview with the Maybach Music rapper, who hopes to get out of prison soon.

In the segment, Meek reveals how his 10-year probation always had him thinking he would somehow go back to jail and then it happened. He also says he thinks God put him in this situation so he could be the one to shed light about how the justice system does this to black men every day.

“I think God delivered me a job to [help] people minorities that come from these situations like myself… I think God put me in this position to be able to do a show with Lester Holt and open up eyes for other black men.”

Even D.A. Larry Krasner thinks he should be out of jail, but does reveal that the judge in the case has her job to do and no matter what the governor or what he wants to accomplish with reform or the mayor says, it’s ultimately up to Judge Genece Brinkley.

Meek will remain in jail as the case gets taken to the state supreme court, but they hope the fact the arresting officer is on the D.A.’s list of “disqualified” people from testifying will help him moving forward.
