Lupita Nyong’o Will Star in Trevor Noah’s Biopic ‘Born a Crime’

The lead actress of the record-breaking film “Black Panther” will play Trevor Noah's mother Patricia. Lupita Nyong'o announced that she has signed on to star in the film adaptation of The Daily Show host's memoir earlier today. 

 

 

In “Born a Crime” Trevor Noah shares stories of him growing up in post-apartheid South Africa. The book especially focuses on his mother Patricia, a powerful black woman, who was arrested multiple times for being in a relationship with a white man. The memoir was published in 2016 and has won two NAACP awards. 

Noah is producing the adaptation through his Ark Angel Productions with co-producers Derek Van Pelt, Norman Aladjem, Sanaz Yamin (Mainstay Entertainment), and Nyong’o herself.
