As a teenager, Brian Banks was accused and jailed for a crime he did not commit. Now we get to see his story come to life.

Based on a true story, Brian Banks follows the journey of a 16-year-old football prodigy (played by Aldis Hodge) whose life soon turns upside down when he is convicted and charged for a crime he never committed. Despite lack of evidence, Banks is railroaded through a broken justice system and sentenced to a decade of prison and probation. Years later, with the support of Justin Brooks (Greg Kinnear) and the California Innocence Project, Banks fights to reclaim his life and fulfill his dreams of playing in the NFL.

Sherri Shepherd and Melanie Liburd (This Is Us) co-star in the movie. Tom Shadyac (The Nutty Professor) is directing.

Brian Banks will open in theaters on August 9. Check out the full trailer below.
