Tracee Ellis Ross’ Black-ish character Rainbow (Bow) Johnson might be getting her own spin-off soon.

According to Deadline, The current fifth season of Black-ish will include a Rainbow-centric episode. The episode, which is already casting to film in March, will feature flashbacks to a teen version of Tracee Ellis Ross character of Rainbow. This episode could become a backdoor pilot for a potential prequel series. Blacki-sh executive producer Peter Saji is in talks to pen the episode, set in the 1980s-90s, which will revolve around Rainbow’s upbringing.

Black-ish already produced one successful spinoff titled Grown-ish. A series around Yara Shahidi’s character, Zoey Johnson, as she goes through college life.

If the spin-off does indeed happen, Kenya Barris is expected to executive produce the prequel. We hold our fingers crossed and hope to see this come to life soon!
