I slacked a bit but here’s the latest favorites of the past week.. and a half 🙂 Anyway, my take on the emerging artists but 1st have you heard the new Cold War Kids single, “Complainer”!? Another smash, I sure hope this rises through the Alt radio charts and congrats on the band signing to Kobalt/AWAL, excited for more new music from them as this has a fun poppy feel that is sure to get fans singing along and giving it repeat listens. Before the Bigs alums include The KnocksLupe FiascoRun River NorthMonogem and RDGLDGRN (formerly The Five One).

Read about some of the musicians you may not have heard of yet:

I discovered Paco Versailles through my buddy that signed them to CDBaby as the distributor is offering some great label services to artists that join in. From the web: PACO VERSAILLES IS A COLLABORATION BETWEEN GUITARIST/COMPOSER VAHAGNI AND SONGWRITER/PRODUCER RYAN MERCHANT (CAPITAL CITIES). THEIR SOUND IS A MIX OF FLAMENCO GUITAR RHYTHMS WITH DISCO-LEANING ELECTRONIC PRODUCTION AND CAPTIVATING VOCALS, A NEW GENRE THEY CALL DANCEMENCO. Seeing them at Peppermint Club last week for their debut performance, they were amazing!!! They played new songs yet to be released and I can’t wait to share those when they are out. Keep an eye on this band, they are destined for big things!

My buddy Adrian referred me to Omar Apollo, a Mexican kid from Indiana who recently moved to LA as his soulful R&B has taken off recently. I love “So Good”, reminds me, Michael Jackson, and is my favorite track; additionally I love “Hijo de Su Madre” which reminds me of Pharrell and “Today” which reminds me of Frank Ocean and Tash Sultana…. so soulful R&B & funky pop vibes from Omar Apollo.

Discovered Blanks through the Chartmetric 3-minute data dump podcast, has a bright alt-pop sound that reminds me of Great Good Fine Ok, Flor, and if Jukebox The Ghost had a baby with Kygo.

The last artist I’ll point out from the below is Royal Teeth who surprised me with “The Best” when it came on my release radar. It’s a humble rocking Matt & Kim mixed with pop-rock vibes of Fitz & The Tantrums and MisterWives.

Los Angeles art-pop band Sure Sure‘s new song “Good Thing” reminds me of Elton John with it’s piano-driven funk pop vibes, however also reminds me of Spoon and Broken Bells.

Ever since my girlfriend put Lawrence‘s “Do you wanna do nothing with me?” on a Spotify playlist for me, I was hooked and have been following them ever since 2016/2017. “Casualty” has a sad tone but fun poppy melodies as many of their other songs do. I hope to catch them live soon!

Country-Folk star Tyler Childers is one of my favorites in the genre and his latest, “All Your’n” is one of my favorites from him, it’s so SWEET. If you like a folky sappy love song, this is it. For fans of: Sturgill Simpson, Brent Cobb, and Margo Price.

Follow Friendly Fires if you like Cut Copy, Hot ChipMiami Horror and The Rapture. Their first new song in years and they just announced their 1st album in 8 years!

Discovered Tessellated via an Apple AirPods commercial his song “I Learnt Some Jazz Today”. The song is dynamic and reminds me of Marian Hill but with this jazz-influenced rap. Dynamic songs like these are perfect for sync opportunities and while the song is 3 years old, officially following Tessellated
