In the world of music, there are a lot of self-proclaimed producers, who in reality are just people that have possession of a Macbook and a keyboard, in addition to having some knowledge in a recording program such as FL Studio or Protools. Due to the fact that studio equipment is so easily obtainable, the industry has become over saturated with beatmakers instead of actual producers. Sometimes, it’s hard to tell the difference between the DJ Mustards of the industry and the Kanye Wests or Bijan Amirs of the industry (a.k.a the people who actually put time and skill into their production). Most of all, with Soundcloud being easily accessible, any beatmaker can sign up for a pro account and call themselves a producer. Most of you may have already noticed or have knowledge of the things that I mentioned earlier, but I felt like I needed to get that out of the way. Now, lets get into a very special and talented producer named Alexander Preston.
Hailing all the way from Kansas City, Alexander Preston definitely has mad skills behind the boards. His rich, dark, and crisp production gives him a distinct soundscape that only he can create. When you start to feel those drums hitting you like a slow song on a Friday night, those snares that give you goose bumps, then you’ve been hit with the Preston Effect, which is a term I created myself. With his recently released project “Rogue”, Preston has definitely caught my attention and has turned me into a long term fan. Being able to listen to something so refreshing as “Rogue”, makes digging through all the Soundcloud rubbish worth it.
I don’t know much about Preston, But I do know that he’s definitely a producer that every artist should have on there “Producers I Want to Work With” list. I also know that he is going to be something great once the right people get a hold his production. He definitely has a lot to offer to this crazy world of music.
