Following his J-Dilla tribute video “Thank You Mr. Yancey” featuring Tab-One of Kooley High, Danny Blaze drops a visual for his West Coast influenced track “California Dreaming”.
I remember hearing the track before the initial drop, and I was instantly taken back to when I was a kid playing Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, and bumping the Radio Los Santos radio station. The station played artists such as: Ice Cube, Cypress Hill, 2Pac, and more. With a hit like “California Dreaming”, Blaze would’ve definitely fit right in that playlist of artists, so I need the developers of the GTA series to give him a spot on the next game.
With pristine production by Cookin’ Soul, Blaze floats on G-Funk influenced instrumental spitting lines such as “…That’s when I heard somebody in the hood, that today was a good day // So may I, kick a lil’ something for the G’S and make a few winds as I breeze throug // Got my Dickies on, Chuck T’s too. You know how we do. . .” I wanted to book a one-way flight to California after hearing that line!
Now, let’s get into the visual. Not only did the quality of the visual catch my eye but, the old school whip dipped that Carolina Blue paint put me in a trance! I’m a stickler when it comes to artists and visuals but, Blaze definitely executed this well. JK Media did a damn good job! Definitely want to see these two work together more.
There's more I'd like to say, but I'll let the content speak for itself. Check it out! Also, if you'd like to stay up to date with Danny Blaze, follow him on Twitter and check out more of his music on Soundcloud.
Another great announment on Danny Blaze, he'll be performing alongside artists such as Common, Just Blaze and George Clinton at this years Art Of Cool Festival. His performance date is April 29th, and you can purchase tickets HERE.
